Part 1 of The Holy Trinity Series

Hello everyone. Today begins our new series on the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity consists of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit—One God in Three Distinct Persons.  In part 1, I will discuss ten of the attributes of our great God – God the Father. Please keep in mind that this list is not exhaustive. I encourage you to delve deeper into the scriptures and learn about God’s many other beautiful attributes.

10 Attributes of God

1. GOD IS LOVE :

John 3:16 NLT – “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

1 John 4:16 NLT – “We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.”

Romans 5:8 NLT – “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”

2. GOD IS HOLY :

Leviticus 19:2 NLT – “Give the following instructions to the entire community of Israel. You must be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.”

1 Peter 1:15-16 NLT – “But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

3. GOD IS GOOD :

Psalm 25:8 NLT – “The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray.”

Psalm 34:8 NLT – “Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!”

Nahum 1:7 NLT – “The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.”

4. GOD IS FAITHFUL :

1 Corinthians 1:9 NLT – “God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

1 Thessalonians 5:24 NLT – “God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.”

1 John 1:9 NLT – “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”

Psalm 31:5 NLT – “I entrust my spirit into your hand. Rescue me, Lord, for you are a faithful God.”

5. GOD IS JUST :

Deuteronomy 32:4 NLT – “He is the Rock; his deeds are perfect. Everything he does is just and fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright he is!”

Zephaniah 3:5 NLT – “But the Lord is still there in the city, and he does no wrong. Day by day he hands down justice, and he does not fail. But the wicked know no shame.”

6. GOD IS RIGHTEOUS :

Romans 3:25-26 NLT – “For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.”

Matthew 6:33 ESV – “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Psalm 145:17 NLT – “The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness.”

7. GOD IS TRUTHFUL :

Numbers 23:19 NLT – “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?”

Isaiah 45:19 ESV – “I did not speak in secret, in a land of darkness; I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, ‘Seek me in vain.’ I the Lord speak the truth; I declare what is right.”

Hebrews 6:18 NLT – “So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.”

8. GOD IS COMPASSIONATE :

Psalm 51:1 NLT – “Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins.”

Psalm 86:15 NLT – “But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.”

Psalm 145:9 NLT – “The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation.”

9. GOD IS PATIENT :

2 Peter 3:9 NLT – “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”

1 Timothy 1:16 NLT – “But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.”

10. GOD IS MERCIFUL :

Psalm 103:8 NLT – “ The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.”

Deuteronomy 4:31 NLT – “For the Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon you or destroy you or forget the solemn covenant he made with your ancestors.”

Nehemiah 9:31 NLT – “But in your great mercy, you did not destroy them completely or abandon them forever. What a gracious and merciful God you are!”
