MINISTRIES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Part 3 of The Holy Trinity Series

Hello everyone. Today, we continue our series on the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity consists of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit—One God in Three Distinct Persons. In part 3, I will discuss six ministries of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Holy Trinity – God the Holy Spirit. Please keep in mind that this list is not exhaustive. I encourage you to delve deeper into the scriptures and learn about the Holy Spirit’s many other awesome ministries.

Genesis 1:1-2 NLT states, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.”

Here, we see that the Holy Spirit (the third person of the Holy Trinity) also existed in the beginning. The Spirit of God referenced in verse two above is the Holy Spirit.

When Jesus was preparing His disciples on how to live without Him on earth (Jesus was referencing the time after His death, burial, great triumphant resurrection, and ascension), Jesus told them that they would have the help of the Holy Spirit, as He stated in John 14:15-17 NLT – “If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.”

How wonderful our great God is! Not only was the Holy Spirit promised to Jesus’ disciples, but the Holy Spirit also helps every  Born-again Believer/Follower of Jesus Christ today.

Let’s explore six ways the Holy Spirit ministers to us born-again believers today.  Again, this list is not exhaustive, and I encourage you to dig deeper into the scriptures to discover more.

6 Ministries Of The Holy Spirit

1. The Holy Spirit Indwells Born-Again Believers:

1 Corinthians 3:16 NLT – “Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?”

John 14:16-17 NLT – “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.”

Note: When we are Indwelled by the Holy Spirit (which takes place at the moment of Salvation, and Salvation meaning that a person trusted Jesus to be Savior and Lord of their life), this means that the Holy Spirit takes up residence within each Saved or born-again believer.

When a born-again believer is Filled with the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit controls them and rules and governs what they do.

2. The Holy Spirit Empowers Us:

Acts 1:8 NLT – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

The Holy Spirit empowers us born-again believers to live this Christian life, to help us resist yielding to temptation and sin, and to help us through various trials in life. The Holy Spirit also empowers us to help us use our God-given spiritual gifts.

3. The Holy Spirit Guides Us:

John 16:13 NLT – “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.”

One example of the Holy Spirit guiding us is when He guides us and helps us to refrain from saying or doing something that we should not do or have us ask for forgiveness from someone we have sinned against.

4. The Holy Spirit Produces Spiritual Fruit In Believers Lives:

Galatians:5:22-23 NLT – “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”

5. The Holy Spirit Teaches Us:

John 14:26 NLT – “But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”

6. The Holy Spirit Helps Us Pray:

Romans 8:26 NLT – “And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.”

So, in conclusion, we saw that the third person of the Holy Trinity – The Holy Spirit also existed in the beginning. We saw that every born-again believer is given the Holy Spirit to help us live this Christian life. We explored six ways the Holy Spirit ministers to born-again believers by indwelling, empowering, guiding, producing spiritual fruit, teaching, and helping us pray.

Stay tuned for part 4 and the conclusion of the Holy Trinity series, where I will discuss further how the Holy Trinity consists of ONE GOD IN THREE DISTINCT PERSONS.

As always, remember to SEEK JESUS 4 LIFE !!!
